Mono sodium glutamate in foods may be harmful.

Mono-sodium glutamate or MSG is a salt of glutamic acid. It is widely used as a food additive or flavour enhancer in many foods. It is also available in crystal form with various brand names such as ajinomoto and vestin. It is identified as E621 in food labels.

Many experts believe that eating foods that contain msg can cause many side effects including msg symptom complex, migrain and asthma.

What foods contain mono-sodium glutamate?

The following food items usually contain msg and if you eat these foods you may develop side effects.
  • 2 minutes noodles
  • soups
  • canned vegetables
  • Chinese food
  • sausage
  • salty snack chips
  • chicken nuggets
  • soy source
Even though these foods taste good, I think they are unhealthy and harmful to our body. My advice is avoid those foods if you want a healthy life.

MSG symptom complex ( Chinese restaurant syndrome)

Some people may develop reactions to msg found in foods. Signs and symptoms of these side effects include
  • head ache
  • nausea
  • sweating
  • flushing
  • chest pain
  • rapid heart beats and palpitation
  • numbness and tingling sensation
  • weakness
However, some people argue that there is no evidence for the claims that msg is harmful. From my point of view, it is better to to avoid those artificial food additives and flavour enhancers such as ajinomoto.
